| Searching for Steel
Strip terms, standards etc. can be frustrating due to the use of
the term "steel" in so many non steel related sites. Whilst this
is to be expected in nevertheless makes finding the information we
are looking for more difficult and time consuming.
I recently discovered the Google co-op search facility, which
allows refined searches within specific subjects. Early results
with this have been encouraging, and it has replaced my Swicki as
the first search of choice, mainly due to it's speed.
You can add this search engine to your own Google page by clicking

Last year I came across the
"Swicki" search.
According to the faq page a Swicki is new kind of search engine
that allows anyone to create deep, focused searches on topics you
care about. Unlike other search engines, you and your community
have total control over the results and it uses the wisdom of
crowds to improve search results.
It allows users to recommend sites that will be added to the
results for specific searches, and just as importantly, it allows
the exclusion of non related sites. It is only by the search
engines usage , and feedback that it is improved. Within the
search results users are given the opportunity to recommend sites
to be promoted or "tagged". Please help us improve the quality of
the searches by recommending sites for promotion. The search
utility is below.
