ArcelorMittal profits soars past forecasts- Is it time to give steel users a break?

Fire at Nippon Steel Plant
It is reported that a fire broke out Nippon Steel Corp’s plant at its Yawata Works at Kitakyushu in southwest Japan. There are no reports of injuries. A spokesman said the fire, which was discovered at 6:37 AM apparently began at a conveyer belt before spreading to the building. [...]

China urges measures to keep coal, steel at home
Higher tariffs and an export quota system are not doing enough to keep Chinese coal and steel supplies at home, the customs administration said, saying the system should be improved.

Plate prices rise by USD 105 per short ton in US
Platts reported that standard cut to length steel plate in the US is selling for more than USD 1,330 per short tons as compared with USD 1,240 per short tons on June.
