Arcelor Mittal to Supply Automakers in Russia:
President Akio Mimura said Thursday Arcelor Mittal SA of Luxemburg will supply steel sheet and other steel products to Japanese automakers starting operations in Russia.
“It is natural that Arcelor Mittal, to which Nippon Steel gives technical assistance, supplies steel products to Japanese automakers operating in Russia,” Mimura said in an interview.

Canada lifts anti-dumping duties on Russian and South African plate
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has lifted anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled steel plate from South Africa and Russia, saying they aren’t likely to harm Canadian steel producers.
However, the tribunal said anti-dumping duties will continue on hot-rolled steel plate from China.

AK Steel increases carbon steel prices
AK Steel announced yesterday that it would increase it’s carbon steel prices by $50, this is an addition to a previously announced price increase of $30.
The price increase will take effect from shipments on the first of February.
Increased demand and costs are cited as the reason for the increase.

China’s steel output subsidised?
China’s steel output gains over the last few years have been aided by "massive" energy subsidies, according to a report commissioned by the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM).
