U.S. Steel agrees to buy Lone Star
United States Steel Corp. plans to buy Lone Star Technologies Inc., a maker of welded pipe used in oil fields, in a $2.1 billion cash deal that will make it North America’s largest producer of tubular steel.

Voestalpine Bids EU3.5 Billion for Boehler
Voestalpine AG, Austria’s biggest steelmaker, agreed to buy specialty steel-producer Boehler- Uddeholm AG for 3.52 billion euros ($4.69 billion), foiling a bid by private equity company CVC Capital Partners Ltd.
