Tata wins steel takeover battle
INDIA’S Tata Steel landed the winning blow today in the auction of former British Steel company Corus.

Battle for Corus starting soon
A head-to-head bid battle for former British Steel firm Corus is due to get under way at 4.30pm (GMT) today.

China’s Steel Output Up 18.5 Percent Despite Curbs
China’s steel output increased 18.5 percent in 2006 from the previous year, despite curbs imposed to slow rising investment and reduce pollution, a news report cited the government as saying.

Hyundai steel in talks with ThyssenKrupp and JFE Steel
Hyundai Steel Co. , South Korea’s second-biggest steel maker, said on Monday it is in talks with Japan’s No.2 maker JFE Steel Co. and Germany’s ThyssenKrupp to broaden ties, but no details have been set.

Russia’s Evraz Group completes acquisition of Oregon Steel
Russian coal and steel producer Evraz Group SA said Wednesday that it has completed its acquisition of Oregon Steel Mills Inc., one of the largest investments in the United States by a Russian company.
