MEPS forecast EU steel price increases

UK Wire producer purchased by Severstal
A RUSSIAN billionaire’s company has bought an Elland based steel wire producer
Wire-makers Carrington Wire, which employs 100 people at the town’s Lowfields Business Park, has been sold to Severstal-metiz.
The buyer is Russia’s largest maker and exporter of wire and is owned by 40-year-old Alexei Mordashov, who has a personal fortune of $7.6bn.

West Midlands Car Plant Closure
Peugeot is to close its car plant at Ryton near Coventry with the loss of 2,300 jobs, it has been announced.
The plant, where the Peugeot 206 is made, is to cease production in the middle of next year.

Allegheny to increase stainless strip prices
Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:ATI) announced that ATI Allegheny Ludlum is increasing selling prices for most cold-rolled and hot-rolled stainless steel sheet and strip products, continuous-mill plate products, and duplex alloys.

Bekaert acquires Cold Drawn Products
Steel cord and wire manufacturer Bekaert SA said it is to acquire Cold Drawn Products Ltd for 17.4 mln eur.
Cold Drawn Products is a supplier of specialised shaped wires designed for offshore applications, machinery construction and the automobile industry.
