European steel strip prices remain stable
MEPS are forecasting little in the way of price changes within the EU. Whilst pressure from imports might cause some slippage in the third quarter, they are are expecting the pressure to ease when Chinese production is reigned back to be more in line with demand.

Arcelor to buy US Steel?
Arcelor its seems are considering buying US Steel as part of their “defence” package against the Mittal takeover bid. The logic is apparently that such a purchase would increase their debt burden making them a “less attractive proposition” and also making any subsequent bid by Mittal raise fears of a steel monopoly.
Its’ certainly getting interesting!
