French govt will invest to keep production at ArcelorMittal plant - Sarkozy
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said his government is ready to make ‘all or part of the investments necessary’ to maintain steel production at an ArcelorMittal plant in eastern France that is threatened with closure.
‘Either we succeed in convincing (ArcelorMittal CEO) Lakshmi Mittal and we invest with him, or we find a buyer and invest with him,’ Sarkozy said during a visit to the Gandrange plant.
Somehow, I could never see the UK Government investing to keep a UK steel plant open. A bank sure, manufacturing never.
