About me
I have worked in the steel industry for over thirty years, being based for most of my life in South Yorkshire, which is still a manufacturing centre for special steels. After some five years spent in the production planning department in Brinsworth Hot Rolling mill, I went on to join the sales department where for the next ten years I sold hot and cold rolled strip to a variety of end users.
I left British Steel (later Corus) to form my own company specialising in the supply of small quantities of carbon and alloy strip. During this time I worked with supply partners in Italy, Switzerland, Spain and the USA, evntually selling up to 10,000 tonnes a year to end users and service centres.
I live in Rotherham in South Yorkshire , where I continue to run BSS Steelstrip, as well as maintaining Steel Strip Resources. We supply a range of steel strip products, but specialise in classical narrow cold rolled, including deep drawing, temper rolled, spring steel, alloys and hardened steel.
Over the past five years we have concentrated on the supply of carbon and stainless spring steels to engineering companies, laser profilers, stockholders and blade manufacturers, as well as a few enthusiastic hobbyists
Outside of work, my passion is photography, and an occasional bit of “worm dangling”, down by the cut. Some of my snapshots can be seen here.
